Song For You
Copyright 2003 by Jon Gill

There’s so many times before
When I’ve come to bow to You
I fall prostrate on the floor
In a heap of tears and gloom
For I’ve fallen once again
For I didn’t use Your grace
And I’m trying to make amends
For not seeking Your face

Why do I go the same old way?
Why do I wander far astray?
Why do I show myself as consistently a fool?
But every time you pick me up
And every time you fill my cup
And every time you lead me to the water clear and cool.

This time is no exception
I’ve fallen once again
I listened to deception
And followed it to its end

But every time I do these deeds
I write about my many needs
And this self-centeredness, it leads
To what I need to do
But rarely do I sing of how
Your love has always come around
To show me the path to walk right now -
This is a song for You.

You are worthy, You are Holy
Your love is complete
You are mighty, You have mercy
On this selfish hunk of meat
You are wise, and You are knowing
You are the source of truth
You are God, and You are worthy
Of all I can give to You.
