Plainly Understood
Copyright 2001 by Jon Gill

Let it be plainly understood
That what can be done not always should
Through wiser eyes, one will see
This colorful world's depravity

It's plainly understood to they
Who open their ears and watch what they say
That those who do not shall one day
Reap what they sow and be forced to pay

It's plainly understood to the wise
That the fool only looks good in his own eyes
While watching his mirror he walks into a trap
It's the same deep pit where the sluggard naps

It's plainly understood to me
That you and I, and he, and she
Have a great deal more to learn
If we think our sinful flesh cannot burn

Let it be plainly understood
That which is bad and that which is good
Knowledge and understanding can be restored
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.
