My Lioness
Copyright 2002 by Jon Gill

From long before the world began
From where the beasts lived and ran
Before the westward spread of man
I saw your tenderness.
When others told you who to be
And where to look, and what to see
You conquered them and broke free
You are my lioness.

Tender fierceness in your eyes
Paws with claws are prey's demise
No one wanders where she lies
In ferocious seductiveness.
Adventure lies within your bones
Deep inside a yearning groans
To make the wild lands your home
To be my lioness.

Running ever by my side
Through valleys deep and prairies wide
Hunting for the bona fide
Accepting nothing less
Forever excitement we will find
Adventure's the renewing of the mind
And wherever this desert path will wind
I'll have my lioness.
