Forget Us
Copyright 1998 by Jon Gill
Here we go
We’re giving a show
Seems we’re up here pretty often now
The music in the ear,
The words you can hear
The flow of the sweating crowd
You’re jumping and twisting
But are you really listening
‘Cause you’re not the reason for the show
You may think that we play cool
We play nothing but the fool
Unless the glory goes where it needs to go
Chorus:
Please forget us!
(We’re doing this for Him!)
Pride will upset us!
(We’re doing this with Him!)
How can you say
Shut up and play
When He’s the reason we’re on Earth
We’re a part of the plan
That includes every man
He’s given us all second birth
When you’re down on your knees
Your spirit He frees
As your heart and his converse
So forget the band
We’re a finger on the hand
Of the Mighty One of the Universe!
For our sinful lives
He paid the cost
He sent His son
To die on a cross
Now the story is told
It never gets old
The stone has been rolled
So our hearts become bold
Be shaped in His mold
And never grow cold
And in Heaven you’ll hold
What’s worth more than gold!
