The Father's Eyes
Copyright 2000 by Jon Gill
I play with my trucks in the backyard
My Father's voice is calling my name
Sounds like someone's in trouble but I don't care
Although I know I am to blame
As I pretend to listen hard
His eyes lock onto mine
And I wonder how it is He knows
That I'm not even trying
If the eyes are the window to someone's soul
Then His is as deep as the ocean
So full of wisdom and unmatched love
And compelling the most total devotion
I can't help but praise you, Lord
you gave the utmost sacrifice for me
The least I can give is everything
For your blood has set me free!
You see through me like a window
Maybe it's because you know
Who and what I am, and how
I wobble to and fro
Your eyes see everything I do
In times both light and stormy
Your eyes reveal your intentions
You have the best plan for me
I want to see through the Father's eyes
As the Father's eyes see through me.
