Doublespeak: An Illogical Etymology
Copyright 2001 by Jon Gill

Hey, Mister Woman
You’re an oxymoron
Pointedly, foolishly
Acting what you’re not
Sophomoronic hypocrisy
Unwise unreality
Living in your doublespeak
Flaunting what you haven’t got

oxys = pointed, keen, sharp
moros = foolish

sophos = wisdom
moros = foolish

You tell me there’s no absolutes
But is that absolutely true?
This trans-action does not compute
Does it makes sense to you?
Erotic, exotic
That love is idiotic
And damaging to say the least
There’s no point without agape
And all life becomes sloppy
A full table but an empty feast

eros = physical, sexual love

agape = unconditional love

I’m a philosopher
Because wisdom’s what I love
And my theology
Is the Word of God above.

philos = love of/attraction to
sophos = wisdom
theos = God
logos = written word
