House of Cards
Copyright 2001 by Jon Gill
Please, no wind this time of day
My house is fragile and will not stay
I’m in this club of lonely hearts
So what if we’re missing some vital parts?
Have you ever tried to stack the deck
In such a way as not to wreck?
With my little spade I dig a mine
To find my diamonds and hope they shine
This fragile, frustrating world of lies
Will fold up neatly before your eyes
Shuffled around and stacked some more
They’re still as fragile as before
So please, no wind this time today
Wind makes my thin box twist and sway
So cut the deck, but not too hard
Please don’t disturb my house of cards.
