Blind As Day
Copyright 2000 by Jon Gill
Sleeping soundly I cannot see
The hovering darkness surrounding me
My heavy breathing could wake the dead
But it scares the monsters from under my bed
For I’ve heard it said, it could be true
That the Boogey Man can get to you
Blindly sleeping in a world of light
Surrounded by the pit of night
I cannot see an evil thing
And in my dreams my mind will sing
The glory shining in the darkness
The wind beneath my wings
The author of my faith and hope
Is the beauty of my dreams
Walking in the noonday sun
I take a look at everyone
The park’s so green, the smiles abound
Not a sad face to be found
But somewhere deep beneath their eyes
Something much more somber lies
I cannot see the faintest trace
Of the pain they hide beneath their face
And they worry how much I can see
Can this be reality?
What does this poem mean?
