The Accuser
Copyright 2002 by Jon Gill

Spitting, speaking what seems true
He leads me to believing
That that which Truth told me to do
Was ultimately deceiving
And so I wonder, wait and worry
About which way to go
And I hunger, I hate to hurry
My speed will stay at slow.

What weapons of war do I not wield?
What causes faith to fail?
What arrows penetrate my shield?
What holes in my chain mail?
It is not these, no, this I know
That causes fear and doubt -
For arrows must come from a bow
Regardless of the bout

This enemy knows well who I am
And barrages me with anger
He tells me that I am a sham
For he knows I am a danger
For greater is the power that's in me
Than any power he holds
Lies cannot fool the ones who see
The Truth that saves the soul.
