A Camel I!
Copyright 2003 by Jon Gill

(chorus)
A Camel I, with hump so grand
And lashes to block the blowing sand
I travel miles on demand -
So raise salute with hoof or hand!

Verse 1:
Most Americans have never seen
A beast like me with eyes so keen
I travel lands you've never been
You'll never leash nor fence me!
For heavy loads I am the best
With talents many I am blessed
I need little water, and food much less
But don't hold that against me... (ch)

Verse 2:
Ignorant folk do like to tell
That I spit too much, and dislike my smell
But remember that when there is no well
And see if I take them anywhere
For millenia men have needed my kind
To navigate through sandstorms blind
Circumvent the globe, you will not find
A better suited steed nor mare... (ch)

Verse 3:
So saddle up your caravan
(No, not the namesake minivan)
For any voyage o'er the sand
You know I'll always make it
The desert is deadly in the heart of June
No one should be stranded on the dunes
You'll make your destination soon
Where there's a camel, you should always take it!
